Tyrese Haliburton Suffers Torn Achilles, May Miss Entire 2025-2026 NBA Season

Indiana Pacers have received devastating news. Star guard Tyrese Haliburton has torn his right Achilles tendon. The injury may sideline him for the entire 2025-2026 NBA season.

Injury Occurred in Game 7 of the NBA Finals

Haliburton went down just seven minutes into Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. He collapsed while trying to accelerate past Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. There was no contact, but the 25-year-old clutched his leg in pain and couldn’t continue.

He was taken straight to the locker room and did not return. Medical scans later confirmed a torn Achilles—one of the worst injuries for basketball players.

Recovery Could Take Up to 10 Months

The expected recovery time is 8 to 10 months. That timeline means Haliburton could miss most, if not all, of next season. This injury is a major setback for both the player and the Pacers.

Haliburton had already been battling a right calf strain. He suffered that injury during Game 5, also in Oklahoma City.

Pacers Struggled Without Their Star

Without Haliburton on the floor, the Pacers lacked offensive rhythm. They scored only 43 points in the second half. Oklahoma City took advantage and pulled ahead to win 103-91. The Thunder claimed the NBA championship with that victory.

In the Finals, Haliburton averaged 14 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game. He was praised for his smart plays and clutch performances during the playoffs.

A Breakout Season Cut Short

The 2024-2025 season was Haliburton’s best yet. He posted averages of 18.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds. At age 25, he was entering his prime.

This injury now puts his momentum on pause. It also leaves Indiana without its playmaker at a critical time.

NBA Stars Facing Achilles Injuries

Achilles tendon injuries are becoming more common among NBA players. Two other All-Stars, Damian Lillard (Milwaukee Bucks) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), are also recovering from similar injuries.

Many fans are comparing Haliburton’s situation to Kevin Durant’s. Durant tore his Achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals and missed the entire following season.

What’s Next for Indiana Pacers?

The loss of Haliburton is a major blow for the Pacers. He is their leader on and off the court. Replacing his production and leadership will be a tough task.

As the team looks to regroup, Indiana must find answers early in the 2025-2026 season—possibly without its brightest star.
