Saquon Barkley Headlines Madden NFL 26 Cover After Viral Reverse Hurdle

Saquon Barkley, the star running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, will appear on the cover of “Madden NFL 26”. EA Sports selected him after his jaw-dropping reverse hurdle over Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Jarrian Jones, a move many fans called the best play of the 2024 NFL season.

The cover shows Barkley recreating that exact moment. EA also awarded him a 99 overall rating, placing him in the exclusive Madden 99 Club. He’s now the first Eagles offensive player to receive that honor.

“Being on the cover and joining the 99 Club are both dreams come true,” Barkley said. “I’m thankful for my teammates, coaches, and Eagles fans. I can’t wait to get back on the field and deliver more highlights for Madden players.”

A Season to Remember

Barkley’s first year in Philadelphia was historic. He earned Offensive Player of the Year after leading the NFL with 2,005 rushing yards. He came just 100 yards short of Eric Dickerson’s all-time record, choosing to sit out the regular-season finale.

He scored 13 rushing touchdowns and added 33 receptions for 278 yards and 2 more scores.

Postseason Dominance and New Records

Barkley didn’t stop in the playoffs. He ran for 499 yards in four postseason games, powering the Eagles to their second Super Bowl title. That performance pushed his total rushing yards to 2,504 for the season, breaking the previous record of 2,476 set in 1998.

“Saquon’s reverse hurdle looked like something straight out of a video game,” said Evan Dexter, VP of Franchise Strategy & Marketing at Madden NFL. “It showed just how athletic and creative he is. Madden NFL 26 will offer the most realistic NFL gameplay yet, giving players the chance to create more amazing moments—just like Saquon did all season.”

Second Eagle to Make the Madden Cover

With this cover, Barkley becomes the second Eagles player ever featured on a Madden game. The first was Donovan McNabb, who appeared on Madden NFL 06.

Madden NFL 26 Launch Details

EA will fully reveal Madden NFL 26 on Wednesday. The game releases on August 14 and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Fans can pre-order starting Tuesday. EA is also offering a special MVP Bundle, which includes deluxe editions of Madden NFL 26 and College Football 26, along with three-day early access to both games.
