After a quiet first inning, Coastal took advantage of an error by Arizona pitcher Owen Kramkowski in the second, loading the bases. Outfielder Wells Sykes capitalized with a two-run single, giving the Chanticleers an early 2-0 lead.

Arizona struck back in the fourth. Mason White launched a solo home run, followed by back-to-back doubles that allowed Adonys Guzman to score and tie the game at 2-2.

In the fifth, Coastal Carolina regained the lead 3-2 when Blagen Pado singled to bring Blake Barthol home. But the game quickly turned again. In a wild sixth inning, Chanticleer reliever Cameron Flukey hit three consecutive batters, allowing Arizona to tie the game and then take a 4-3 lead on an RBI grounder from Garen Caulfield.

Coastal responded in the bottom half with a run-scoring hit from Caden Bodine, making it 4-4.

The next two innings were locked in a tie until the bottom of the eighth, when the Chanticleers exploded. With two outs, Sykes doubled, followed by an RBI single from Sebastian Alexander to take a 5-4 lead. After an intentional walk to Bodine, Barthol smashed a two-run double to give Coastal a 7-4 advantage.

Arizona put up a final fight in the top of the ninth, getting a double from Andrew Cain and a single from Tommy Splaine, but a key double play ended their hopes.
