Coastal Carolina continued its red-hot postseason run with a 6-1 win over Oregon State in the 2025 Men’s College World Series. The Chanticleers extended their win streak to 25 games and became the first team to clinch a semifinal spot in Omaha.
They struck early. In the first inning, first baseman Colby Thorndyke crushed a bases-loaded double with two outs, bringing in three runs. His big swing gave Coastal a quick 3-0 lead and set the tone for the game.
Oregon State’s Brief Response
Oregon State tried to answer in the third. Easton Talt hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 3-1. However, that was the only offense the Beavers could produce.
After that, Coastal Carolina’s ace Jacob Morrison took full control. He retired the next 16 batters in a row — a feat rarely seen in the MCWS since 2011.
Morrison Shuts the Door
Morrison was nearly untouchable. He allowed only five hits and one earned run across 7.2 innings. He also struck out seven batters. His outing was the longest in an MCWS game since Ty Floyd’s performance for LSU in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Chanticleers padded their lead. They added two more runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth, increasing the margin to 6-1. From there, their bullpen and defense held strong.
What’s Next in the MCWS
Oregon State will face Louisville in an elimination game on Tuesday — a rematch from Friday’s opener. The winner of that game will meet Coastal Carolina in Wednesday’s semifinal.
